What was the situation before the project was started? How has the situation changed?
The project’s goal is to facilitate the healing process of those people – children and adults - whose lives were tragically affected by the events of September 11, 2001. All camps (whether completed, in progress, or planned) serve people and their families who have either:
- lost a spouse, or parent, or child, or sibling, or another close family member;
- been physically injured, disabled, and/or emotionally traumatized by the attacks;
- lost their jobs in the towers that came down or the immediate environment.
Through FAF’s unique approach focusing on arts and a structured exposure to cultural diversity, the programs have allowed participants release grief and the feeling of loss, and to empower them to go on with their lives. |
